I had to pull the image to my desktop but it reads: "Jesus for Governor."
If Jesus was indeed elected NC governor, I don't know that the allegedly conservative Christian driving this car would be all that pleased. First, I think Jesus would forgive all criminals and outlaw the death penalty. He would most likely declare everyone in NC a resident of "God's kingdom on earth" and so why do we need boundaries--ergo, all immigrants would become residents. Conservatives would cry "amnesty!" and "soft on crime!"
Given Jesus' concern for the poor, he would probably tax the "hell" out of corporations and rich folks (accompanied by a tract on something about the difficulty of passing through the eye of a needle) and expand entitlement programs for the lame, widows, orphans and lepers.
Jesus would probably get preachy, especially to the Christians--something about plucking out the mote in your own eye first--who would react by elevating arguments over the Eucharist and baptism to state legislative showdowns.
And NC's population would skyrocket after Jesus healed everyone and raised all the dead. Which would require new roads and more services and higher taxes. So, what WOULD Jesus do?
I'm liberal. I'm short. I'm opinionated. I have wide feet. I like reading and cooking. I need gossip like I need air. My child is cuter, smarter, sweeter than yours. So's my husband. I believe in shades of grey, except when I don't. I want to be a better person. If hell exists, I am probably going there. I am selfish. And I am shy. As I figure out more, you will be the first to know.
