What I really don't like about stuff like this is the presumption of familiarity.
Best as I know, Senator Obama and the journalist have a professional relationship - she should call him 'Senator' (and she did), and he should call her "Ms. Agar" or "Ms." if he doesn't know her name.
I just don't like the trend to presumed familiarity. Maybe it just makes me old fashioned.
I'm liberal. I'm short. I'm opinionated. I have wide feet. I like reading and cooking. I need gossip like I need air. My child is cuter, smarter, sweeter than yours. So's my husband. I believe in shades of grey, except when I don't. I want to be a better person. If hell exists, I am probably going there. I am selfish. And I am shy. As I figure out more, you will be the first to know.

I think it goes beyond the issue of familiarity, it is just flat disrespectful and sexist. and obama should know better in my opinion.
